Summer Term: Summer Two

Welcome back!

Our Summer Two half term will be slightly different for year 4 as we will be building up to our 2017 summer production of...

 

PORRIDGE!

 

As part of this we will be developing our speaking, listening and performing skills as part of Topic and hope that you’ll be able to join us at Number 8 in July to celebrate all of our hard work.

We will also be focusing on our Key Questions from the ‘On Tap’ Topic which will be continued this half term (alongside rehearsals). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to pop in and ask the Year 4 team.

Summer Term: Summer One

Welcome back!

For our Summer One half term we will be exploring the importance and impact of water on our everyday lives. As part of this we will be setting off on a journey around the world; exploring different climates and investigating the importance of water on the lives of all living things.

A predominant focus will be on water usage, the water cycle and changes of state as we continue to work scientifically. We will then turn our attention to how we can pioneer to protect our water supply. This topic lends itself to learning lots of mathematic and literacy skills as well as being rooted in Science, Geography and History.

Look out for the Key Questions sheet in the first week for lots of fun ideas and ways to explore the topic at home! We will display your wonderful work from home as well as sharing it with the class during show and tell.

 

In R.E this half term we will also be investigating the Key Question ‘What do different people believe about God?’

Spring Term: Spring Two

Welcome back!

For our Spring Two half term we will be carrying out an exciting mini-enterprise topic as we design, create and review our very own games using our gained knowledge of electricity and circuits.

As well exploring key inventions and technological developments, we will also be carrying out a scientific enquiry as we learn about electrical safety, conductors and insulators and simple circuits. We will then turn to the Modern Art revolution for design inspiration; learning about the life and art work of key artist as well as exploring and debating the Key Question ‘Is this really art?’ This topic lends itself to learning lots of mathematic and literacy skills as well as being rooted in Science, History, Art and Design Technology.

Look out for the Key Questions sheet in the first week for lots of fun ideas and ways to explore the topic at home! We will display your wonderful work from home as well as sharing it with the class during show and tell.

 

In R.E this half term we will also be investigating the Key Question ‘Why do some people think that life is like a journey and what significant experiences mark this?’

Spring Term: Spring One

Welcome back!

 

Our Spring One half term will commence with an exciting topic exploring the key question ‘Do you think the Ancient Egyptians were more advanced than us?’

 

For this we will take a magical journey back in time; exploring the wonders of the Pyramids, meeting the Pharaohs, making sense of hieroglyphics and investigating the importance of the famous Nile on the Ancient Egyptians’ daily life. This topic lends itself to learning lots of Literacy and Mathematic skills as well as being rooted in Science, History and Art.

Autumn Term: Autumn Two

Welcome back!

 

For our Autumn Two half term we will be setting off on an exciting adventure as we explore the world we live in; learning about both past, present and fantasy worlds. 

As part of our ‘One World’ Topic we will be visiting different continents, countries and settings; exploring the lifestyle and culture of the different places on our way. This topic lends itself to learning lots of mathematic and literacy skills as well as being rooted in History, Geography, PSHE and R.E.

Autumn Term: Autumn One

Welcome to your first term in Year 4!

 

Our year will commence with a wonderful enterprise topic 'Earth’s Kitchen'. For this we will explore the magical journey our food takes from farm to fork and how it ultimately becomes fuel for our bodies.

 

This topic lends itself to learning lots of Literacy and Mathematic skills as well as being rooted in Science, Geography and Design Technology. We will be exploring where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed as well as exploring issues such as seasonality and Fairtrade. In addition, we will be learning about the function of our teeth and taking a journey through the human digestive system!
